The Chaga Mushroom grows uniquely on the birch tree and is almost as hard as the wood itself. It is unique in that it is the most nutritionally dense of all tree growths.

It is know by the Siberians as the 'Gift from God' and the "Mushroom of Immortality", Chaga Mushroom powder has been used by humans to support health for thousands of years. The Japanese call it "The Diamond of the Forest", while the Chinese deem it "King of Plants".

Chaga is best consumed in its natural state as a tea that has brewed for 12 hours.

Chaga Tea Method: Research shows the best way to draw the nutrients from chaga is by water extraction. We do not recommend using boiling water with raw chaga, since the hot temperature may corrupt the melanin complex and the polysaccharides, among other active ingredients.

Place 1 litre of purified water in a pot. Bring water up to roughly 50°c. Place 2-3 tablespoons of powder into the water. Cover with lid, take off the heat and set aside to brew for 10-12 hours. Strain off and store in a glass jar in a cool dark place. Chaga tea can keep for up to 14 days in the fridge.

Nutritional Information: The health benefits derived from the Chaga Mushroom are too numerous to include here. Please conduct your own research.

How, Where and When our Wild Chaga is Processed: It is harvested in October every year from the Changbai Mountain in Northeast China.

They are cut by hand and are only found growing in the wild. Once cut, they are laid out in a temperature controlled room at 26-28°c and relative humidity of around 80°c. The mushrooms receive scattered light and ventilation each day for around 20 days. They are then dried between 40-60°c, reducing the moisture to 12% in order to harvest the powder.
