We are delighted to announce that our full honeycomb frames are ready to be lifted out of our beehive.
Scottish Highland Wildflower honeycombs have a varying degree of scattered natural bee pollen inside each frame. When we sort out our honeycomb we keep an eye out for combs that have natural bee pollen deposits. Then we set them aside as special Honeycomb & POLLEN Frames. Bee pollen contains vitamins B1, B2 and E, higher amounts than found in fruits, berries and green vegetables. One gram of fresh raw pollen contains from 7 to 15 mg. of vitamin C, along with traces of vitamin E (tocopherol & 5 to 7 times the amino acids in equal weights of beef, milk, eggs or cheese- but 100% plant based- great for vegans! Pollen is a super natural protein source.
The amount of pollen will vary. Look out for dark areas in the comb cells -thats the pollen (see the photos) Note our honeycomb is Scottish as we are located in the Highlands.
All the wax is edible, and is made by the honeybee from nectar. This is one of the best ways to enjoy honey! A chewy intoxicating treat indeed. Straight from the beehive, untouched, just as the bees have made it. The nectar is gathered in the surrounding areas of our SSSI Site. Runny honey varying in texture. TEXTURE: We have no control over this natural food- only nature does. We do not alter this natural food so you receive it as nature intended.
For those who suffer from hayfever, these honeycombs with extra pollen deposits are rich in protein which helps boost the body’s immune system during the effects of hayfever.
No special storage requirement. Just keep it covered in a cupboard. Will keep fresh for 1-2 years.
TEXTURE: Runny which may have very slight crystallisation. Contains patches of dense natural POLLEN.
