Scots Pine needles can be infused in olive oil to make an aromatic drizzling oil for meat dishes. In addition, pine needles have a lemony flavour and can be chopped and added to dishes as a seasoning. They can also be blended with caster sugar and used in baking.
Scots Pine Needles can also be used for steaming with vegetables to give them their own unique flavour of Mountain Freshness and Sweetness.
We can provide them dried if required and an origin statement if needed.
An invigorating tea can be brewed from pine needles and sweetened with honey.
Directions for Making Scots Pine Tea:
- Bring water to a boil.
- Add pine 5 grams of needles per cup (depending on potency required) to the water and reduce to the lowest heat. For a stronger tea double the amount.
- Very low simmer for 20 minutes and remove from heat.
- You can either leave to cool strain and drink or cover and let sit overnight to continue steeping.
- Strain out pine needles, if required, sweeten to taste, then serve tea hot or cold.
- Note: It's important to have a very low simmer and not to boil the pine needles in order to preserve the vitamin C
Note: The honey in the second picture is for display
only and not included with the Pine Needles.
